MCI Worldcom signs $650m outsourcing deal with BP Amoco

NEWS BP Amoco has signed a $650m outsourcing contract with MCI Worldcom, which will see the services giant take over the day-to-day running of BP Amoco's global telecommunications services. The contract will see BP Amoco migrate its regional telecommunications system to a single global platform. The platform will be designed and implemented by MCI and will connect sites across 85 countries worldwide. As part of the agreement, the oil giant's ebusiness strategy and Web-based services will be supported by MCI. UUNet, a subsidiary of MCI Worldcom, will provide all Internet services.
