Inprise server to integrate JavaBeans and Corba

NEWS Inprise have today announced the release of its Application Server 4.0, which it claims is the first of its kind to fully integrate Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) and Corba. The product will use Visibroker for Java 4.0 as its Object Request Broker. The move was welcomed by Sun Microsystems, who said that it would enable the development of multi-tier enterprise applications on its Java 2 Enterprise Edition platform. This news follows the announcement that Inprise is in collaboration with Sun to produce a version of the Java 2 platform to run on Linux. Dale Fuller, Interim President and CEO of Inprise, said the new release showed that Inprise was committed to providing end-to-end solutions for creating and deploying Web-based applications. Gary Barnett, senior analyst at Ovum, said that the news was a good move for Inprise. He insisted: "They are the first to market in this area with a product that they claim to be mature." The Inprise Application Server 4.0 and Visibroker for Java 4.0 are available immediately from Inprise distributors.
