NEWS The Halifax is to recruit a further 600 staff for its call centre in Scotland to support a £100m venture called Greenfield.co, raising the number of jobs created at the call centre this year to 1,100. The service is being developed to compete with online bank, Egg, and will offer banking, insurance and loan products through a standalone Web site supported by telephone banking services. But the former building society has pushed back the start date for the venture from April to early summer and expects the start-up costs to run over original estimates by approximately £50m to around £150m.
