NEWS Logistics software company, Syntra, has announced a deal to provide DHL with its Global Logistics System software. The deal will enable DHL to calculate quickly the total cost for any delivery to any place in the world. Syntra claim that this will make DHL the first distribution company in the world to have this facility, allowing them to make immediate and accurate quotes to customers. The Landed Cost Engine technology in the software takes account of tariffs, duties, classification codes and restrictions for every country in the world, in addition to transit costs. It is to be integrated with both customer facing ecommerce applications and legacy systems. Richard Giordanella, CEO of Syntra, said the deal marked a watershed for the company and a validation of its technology. DHL delivers to more than 635,000 destinations in 230 countries across the world.
