Proton extranet to be supplied by Netcom

NEWS Malaysian car manufacturer, Proton, has chosen Netcom Internet to upgrade its UK IT systems. The update will allow its dealer network access to its corporate intranet, and
give Proton's dealers information on order status and inventory levels. The dealer extranet will be linked by means of a 64kbps leased line to Proton's AS400 database. The leased line will replace the present dial-up connection. The network will be further developed over the next few months to supply Proton dealers with a variety of other business data.
