NEWS Nissan is set to join Ford's Web-based buying system, according to a report in the Financial Times. Ford and Oracle announced in November they would work together to bring 30,000 Ford suppliers to source products through an online ordering system (see silicon story ('Ford and Oracle to develop online procurement network' http://www.silicon.com/a33775 ). Renault is also likely to join the system, according to the report. The deals are estimated to provide all three companies with substantial cost savings; in Nissan's case approximately 20 per cent.
