NEWS French telecoms manufacturer, Alcatel, is to install an E11m (£6.6m) call centre for Hyder, the Welsh electricity, gas and water company. The facility will provide better service for the utility's customers, as well as offering call centre services to other businesses under Hyder's business services division. It will be available to companies in the direct marketing, financial and telecoms industries. Alcatel is to provide the telecoms infrastructure including ACD, Interactive Voice Response, a data LAN and Internet technologies as part of the seven-year contract. The centre will open in May 2000 and Hyder expects it to seat around 330 agents.
