NEWS JD Edwards, has reached out to Europe with announcements of products and alliances tailored to European business needs. The US ERP vendor has brought its application hosting service - jde.sourcing - across the Atlantic, by partnering with Arthur Andersen and IBM Global Services. The service has been available in the US since February 1998, but has so far attracted little interest. The company expects the demand for hosted ERP services to pick up over coming years, as the skills shortages squeeze IT resources within businesses and ecommerce becomes a pressing issue. JD Edwards has also announced customer and supplier relationship software designed for European consumer packaged goods firms. For this offering, the company partnered with Andersen Consulting - who will customise the software for Europe. Travis White, JD Edwards EMEA vice president for marketing, commented: "Requirements for the consumer packaged goods companies in Europe are far more stringent than in the US." He continued: "For the first time, we have commissioned a consulting company to help us create and expand our functionality for Europe."
