Quark signs deal for XML technology

By Joey Gardiner, 10 February 2000 17:23

NEWS Publishing software giant, Quark, has announced a strategic alliance with Metacode Technologies to allow Quark content to be integrated with eXtensible Mark-up Language (XML). The deal means that Quark users will be able to benefit from the advantages of XML tagging, which allows data to be recognised in any number of environments. Metacode's Metatagger product allows content to be tagged automatically, taking away the labour-intensive process. The news comes as Tim Gill, chairman and CTO of Quark, predicted a 30 to 50 per cent drop in publishing costs, through the widespread adoption of XML. Gill made the comments at an industry conference in Boston earlier this week.
