NEWS Oracle has announced version two of its Linux-based server software. Oracle 8i Release 2 on Linux boasts advanced analytical functions for data warehousing, support for Java 2 and XML and improved security to protect data that is in transit. The company found that almost 20,000 more Web developers have downloaded the Linux version of the software from its site, than the Microsoft NT version. Oracle 8i Release 2 on Linux will be available for free download from http://technet.oracle.com in 30 days.
