NEWS Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) newcomer, WRQ, has purchased Dutch EAI vendor, SuperNova Enterprises, for an undisclosed sum. SuperNova provides tools that allow the integration of highly customised applications with newer ecommerce and Internet applications. It specialises in technology that can retrieve information from legacy ERP systems and put it into a Web development environment. SuperNova will transfer all of its customers, partners and 80 staff to WRQ under the deal. WRQ said that the acquisition advanced WRQ's aim of being able to tackle the integration of the most complex of back office environments. Steve Cauble, general manager of WRQ in the UK, said the purchase accelerated WRQ to exactly where it wanted to be in the EAI market. WRQ, established in 1981, specialises in software that provides connectivity to back office systems, but has recently moved into the EAI market. EAI is the integration of existing legacy systems with new software and fronts-ends to enable ebusiness and Internet applications.
