United Biscuits completes £3m network overhaul

NEWS Food manufacturer, United Biscuits, has completed a £3m revamp of its network infrastructure to prepare for an extension of its core business processes. Networking specialist, Syncra, completed the upgrade of hardware and cabling across all 11 of the manufacturer's UK sites, including Ashby, Carlisle, Glasgow and Manchester. Andrew Green, managing director, IS and purchasing at United Biscuits, said in a statement: "The major investment clearly indicates United Biscuits' determination to stay at the forefront of technology, in supporting core business capabilities. This gives us the base that we can confidently exploit as we roll out new systems." Brands manufactured by United Biscuits include McVitie's and KP Foods. The system is based on Nortel Networks BayStack switched network infrastructure and connected by Lucent Technologies cabling.
