NEWS Ericsson has signed up Inprise/Borland to integrate its third-generation mobile networks. Inprise's VisiBroker technology is to become the basis of an Ericsson Operation Support System (OSS), which will monitor the availability and performance of its mobile phone network. VisiBroker is based on industry standard CORBA - an open platform rival to Microsoft Windows. An Inprise spokesman said: "This is the first of a series of CORBA projects for Ericsson." Inprise announced plans to merge with Corel earlier this month - a company that is determined to bring the full range of middleware tools to the Linux platform.
