Embedded Linux Consortium comes to life with $100K boost

NEWS The Linux operating system has been given further inspiration today as more than a dozen high-tech companies joined forces to form the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC). The consortium is designed to encourage the use of the open source operating system within embedded designs such as those used to control cars, home appliances or Internet appliances. The ELC group has kicked off with funding worth $100,000 from founding members who include IBM, Motorola Computer Group, Red Hat, Real-time Systems and Wind River Systems.
