Boeing puts confidence in Baan

NEWS Troubled ERP vendor, Baan, has received an order from its largest customer, Boeing, to upgrade its manufacturing software, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal Europe. The order should end speculation that Boeing is looking at other suppliers for its IT systems. The deal reportedly covers 38,000 workers at 19 worldwide Boeing plants used for the manufacture of aeroplanes. Boeing is to move from the Baan IV system to the latest version BaanERP. Baan's shares have plummeted this year on the Nasdaq exchange from an initial value of $15 to a current rating of $4.38.
