NEWS Belgian-French bank Dexia is to offer its customers online banking as part of a plan to launch a European direct banking service. The bank said it aims to have 50,000 customers by the end of the year, but predicted this number would grow to 300,000 in the future. In addition to Internet banking, customers will be able to access their accounts via call centres, digital TV and telephone banking. Dexia also announced that one of its subsidiaries, the virtual bank, Zebank, was granted approval yesterday by the French banking regulator CECEI (Comite des Establissement de Credit et des Enterprises d'Investissement) to offer a full range of banking and financial services.
