Logica signs £100m utilities deal

NEWS Logica has signed a contract valued at £100m to supply British Energy with IT services. The deal will allow British Energy's customers to access a variety of online services, and will allow them to get quotes, sign up for BE's services, and pay for energy. Logica will deploy its specialised utilities product, Nexus-MP, to control billing, payment processing, contact centre services and work management for British Energy's domestic customers. The contract will include both back and front office systems. Logica said the deal reaffirms its commitment to full business process outsourcing capabilities. Back office services will be offered for the first time. The company will extend the back office support it has developed specifically for this contract to other companies. British Energy is the privatised holding company for eight of the UK's nuclear power plants, and owns the electricity supply company, Swalec.
