Dulux designs extranet for painters and decorators

NEWS Dulux, a division of ICI paints, has developed a specialist extranet to provide easy access to information and advice for professional painters and decorators. The Dulux Trade Web site enables merchants and decorators to specify the most appropriate materials for individual jobs and contact the nearest stockist. Steve Snaith, contractor marketing manager for Dulux Trade, said in a statement: "Up to now, professional specifiers and decorators have needed to refer to weighty volumes of product specifications before selecting the right paint for the job." The site was developed by Rubicon Software using Inprise/Borland's Delphi 5 and Midas application services suite, and is powered by the Rubicon Dfinity Web engine. Alistair Hancock, technical director of Rubicon software, said: "The extranet relies on the data being constantly up to date. By separating out the content management and building it dynamically using Inprise/Borland technology, we've avoided any difficulties with maintaining the site on a day to day basis."
