Manugistics wins tobacco logistics contract

NEWS Brown & Williamson, the third largest tobacco manufacturer in the US, has chosen logistics software developer, Manugistics, to set up a complete transport system. Manugistics' NetWORKS Transport software will be used to plan inbound, outbound and internal tobacco shipments, and to post transport trends automatically on the Internet. The product tracks shipments, pays carriers, allocates freight costs and runs analysis on performance. Brown & Williamson hopes the package will lead to faster return on investment, improved customer service and faster order cycles. The company has been a Manugistics customer for ten years, and will tie the transportation system to the rest of its supply chain.
