Consumers urged to 'shop around' for better gas deals

NEWS Electricity and gas regulator, Ofgem, has called on customers to shop around for better gas and electricity deals as price controls kick in on 1 April. Ofgem said 30,000 customers per week are moving from British Gas to a new supplier. Domestic gas customers have saved £1bn since the introduction of competition, according to National Audit Office estimates. Electricity customers will see savings of up to £28 on a typical annual bill of £250 after the price controls come in.
