Technology supplier inks $250m contract with IBM

NEWS Technology giant ABB has signed a $250m contract with IBM to streamline its computing systems saving $35m in operating costs per year, it claims. IBM will lease hardware including 75,000 desktop computers, 25,000 laptops and 9,000 servers. In addition, the computing giant will supply and manage a Web-based e-procurement system to span ABB's operations across 80 countries. ABB which is a principal technology supplier to the manufacturing, automation, petrochemicals, construction and gas industries, said it will begin the project immediately.
