FirePond trucks intranet deal

NEWS Heavy vehicle manufacturer Scania has commissioned Web technology company FirePond to develop an intranet to support build-to-order sales and order processes. FirePond will supply its Sales and Sales Manager software products to allow the company's UK sales force to collaborate on a corporate intranet which will link to distributor outlets. Through the intranet salespeople will be able to configure orders and ensure up-to-date pricing structures. UK IT manager, Sten-Ake Tjarnlund, expects the system to cut the complexity out of configuring vehicles in the sales process and cut the time it takes to a fraction of existing levels.
