Ventro provides global solution for pharmaceutical industry

NEWS Ventro Life Sciences is supplying an off-the-shelf solution that will provide a marketplace for buyers and suppliers of laboratory products such as chemicals, bio-chemicals and industry instruments. Hoping to build on its US arm, Chemdex, John Thorpe, European president at Ventro said: "The supply chain is longer and more fragmented in Europe compared to the US, so the system will be localised for Europe. The pharmaceutical industry needs a global solution." With market leaders such as Bristol-Myers Squibb and SmithKline Beecham already as customers, Robin Abrams, chief operating officer at Ventro, said: "We will be offering more than just a Web site. We will give customers the capability to follow from the moment it is first offered."
