Silicon Fen to widen its borders

NEWS Silicon Fen - a high-tech R&D zone in Cambridgeshire, England - is poised for major expansion. Industrial parks developer, Slough Estates, is to acquire a 112-acre site, called Cambridge Research Park, and aims to spend £125m on developing offices and laboratories for prospective tenants. So far, only Cambridge Cable has signed up, but a spokesman for Slough Estates said the company is expecting a high level of demand from IT companies, given recent growth in high-tech areas, such as IT, biotech and telecommunications. He said there was space for around 10 to 15 medium-sized companies on site.
