NEWS Software development firm, Inprise, has filed suit in California against middleware vendor, Iona Technologies' American operation and its Irish parent company. Inprise has made a wide range of allegations against Iona, including libel, breach of contract, unfair business practices and dilution of the Inprise-Borland trademark. In a statement on the Inprise-Borland Web site, CEO Dale Fuller said: "We filed this lawsuit as a necessary step to protect our business and prevent unfair competition. While we regret having to file this lawsuit, we have a fiduciary responsibility to protect the interests of the corporation and its shareholders."
