Shopping cart software is an open door to hackers

NEWS Security company Cerberus has issued a major security warning to companies using a shopping cart software which leaves Web sites vulnerable to hackers. The shopping cart software called Cart32, developed by US company McMurtrey/Whitaker & Associates, contains a backdoor access security hole that can allow hackers to easily access online transactions, gaining access to credit card and other sensitive information. Graham Hill, managing director of Cerberus, said: "We were looking at the Cart32 software for a client and saw that the flaw has huge implications." The company decided to issue a warning immediately rather than wait for the vendor to act. Cerberus advises the many small companies and ISPs using Cart32 to get a patch from www.ultraedit.com
