NEWS Jan Leschly, CEO of SmithKline Beecham, has become the latest high-profile executive to quit his job and join a dot-com start-up. Leschly last week joined the board of Chemdex, a US business-to-business company that sells pharmaceutical supplies. The business proposal was made by his son while at university. At SmithKline's AGM today, Leschly will hand over the CEO reins to JP Garnier, the company's former chief operating officer. Leschly said the move will be a clean split with the company he joined in 1994.
