Tivoli loses CIO to Vignette

NEWS Tivoli, the $1.5bn development arm of IBM, has lost its CIO to smaller ebusiness application provider Vignette. John Ciulla, who previously had tenures at Entex and EDS, will be responsible for managing Vignette's IT systems and internal engineering services, as well as all real estate transactions and facilities functions. Texas-based Vignette handles the data and image archiving for new media companies and facilitates companies' high-volume transaction exchanges with suppliers and partners. The company's client's include UK newspaper, the Guardian, and Spanish Internet company, Terra Networks - which today announced its $12.5bn purchase of Lycos. The move continues a recent trend of senior executives moving from established, traditional firms to smaller niche companies, including pre-IPO start-ups.
