NEWS Internet content distribution firm Akamai has signed a three-year deal to place its servers on Cable & Wireless' (C&W) global IP network. The agreement will make improve accessing to content on Akamai edge servers easier. Akamai servers will connect to the IP network at C&W data centres around the world and various points of presence (POPs) using Gigabit Ethernet. C&W is making a major international push promising to provide co-location space and let ISPs and others distribute content efficiently. Meanwhile Akamai increasingly depends on improving the delivery of data to users wherever they are worldwide.
