NEWS SAP has announced a £250m investment in Commerce One at a Sapphire user group event in Las Vegas. The three-year deal will see SAPMarkets, the subsidiary covering mySAP.com marketplaces, build an e-marketplace offering with Commerce One. The marketplace suite - which has not yet been named - will combine Commerce One's MarketSite Portal software with mySAP.com e-business applications for advanced planning and optimisation, product lifecycle management and business information warehousing. The companies also plan to develop an e-procurement product as part of the marketplace suite. The software will be based on Commerce One's XML Common Business Library (xCBL). The deal may spell the end of the year-long partnership between rival enterprise software firm, Peoplesoft, and Commerce One. Peoplesoft invested in the company last July, but has now filed with the US Securities and Exchange to sell 1.2 million Commerce One shares.
