Ray Lane quits Oracle

NEWS Oracle announced late Friday that its president and Chief Operating Officer, Ray Lane has resigned. In an official statement, the company said Lane had been preparing to leave for some time. The resignation was due to have been announced midweek, but CEO Larry Ellison did not want Lane's departure to be linked to the admission that the company had engaged a private detective agency to investigate rival Microsoft. Lane, 53, joined the company in 1992 and is generally credited with turning around the company's fortunes in the early part of the nineties.
