NEWS German car parts suppliers have formed their own electronic marketplace to rival similar services launched by car manufacturers. Bosch and Continental are to launch the joint venture with SAP Markets, a subsidiary of ERP vendor SAP, despite continuing to trade on rival site Covisint. Car manufacturers General Motors, Ford and Daimler Chrysler launched the first virtual marketplace for the automotive industry last February. It soon won the backing of Dana, Delphi Automotive Systems and Motorola. IBM, i2 Technologies and Ariba have been chosen to build the technology. Continental already participates in a marketplace for tires with Pirelli, Goodyear and Cooper called RubberNetwork.com.
