i2 reports accelerated growth in Q2 figures

NEWS i2 Technologies, the ebusiness and marketplace solutions company, has reported total revenue of $243m for the second quarter (Q2) which is 84 per cent higher than total revenues of $132m for the same quarter 1999. The figures also represent an increase of 30 per cent on the previous quarter. During the quarter ending 30 June, i2 acquired web-based solutions provider SupplyBase, and content management solutions company Aspect Development, which have strengthened the company's standing in the high-value ebusiness solutions marketplace. Sanjiv Sidhu, chairman and CEO of i2, said in a statement: "We now have close to 5,000 employees. To put this in perspective, recall that just five years ago we had just 330 employees." Net income defied analyst predictions of eight cents a share and increased to 10 cents per fully diluted share, or $19.1m, compared to 1999 figures of $4.2m and 3 cents per fully diluted share. The stand-alone licence revenues for Q2 also grew 80 per cent to $143m. In July the WorldWide Retail Exchange selected i2 Technologies to power its business-to-business portal, and the company was also selected to build the technology for the first virtual marketplace for the automotive industry.
