NEWS Netegrity and Oblix are launching software products this week that will allow enterprises to safely open up parts of their internal directories to their trading partners. A critical issue when building ecommerce partnerships, the directory is vital for controlling business partners' access to applications and data. Ecommerce infrastructure provider Netegrity is unveiling a new product called Delegated Management Services (DMS) which the company said has the ability to manage large directories of different types of users. DMS lets partners manage only their portion of a host directory, deleting and adding users and assigning access rights within a set of guidelines. DMS provides native support for major LDAP directories and works natively with the large range of user directories that customers have already deployed. Additionally, DMS also provides standards compliant templates for easy customization of partner and affiliate branding as well as worldwide localisation. Meanwhile, security software start-up Oblix is introducing new software called NetPoint, which is designed to ease security and authorisation problems for large companies that must worry about many users tapping into corporate networks. While the company currently provides similar software, the new version is designed to manage the access of outside users as well as inside users. It delivers policy enforcement and identity management through integrated components in the NetPoint Identity System and NetPoint Access System. NetPoint comes with features that allow companies to manage the identities and permissions of various users or groups of users, as well as web single sign on, delegated administration and user self-registration and self-service capabilities.
