NEWS SAP and Commerce One have announced they will build an online marketplace for 16 metal and mining companies worldwide. The metal and mining contract is the joint venture's second win just a few days after the two software giants won another contract to provide five North American power utilities with ecommerce software. The marketplace suite will combine Commerce One's MarketSite Portal software with mySAP.com ebusiness applications for advanced planning and optimisation, product lifecycle management and business information warehousing. The metal and mining companies involved include Alcan Aluminium, Alcoa, and DeBeers Consolidated mines.
