Eircom alters customers password to buffer hacker attack

NEWS Irish telephone company Eircom suffered a hacker attack overnight which forced the company to change 30,000 customer passwords. Eircom said the passwords were changed to prevent the hacker from accessing emails and other customer information. It also posted a warning notice on its website alerting customers about the hacker and said it will be investigating the attack. The company claimed no customer details have been interfered with. Eircom, which operates Eircom Net and Indigo ISPs has 240,000 customers in total.
