Nokia unveils WAP browser for the common good

NEWS Nokia has launched its WAP Browser 2.0 and announced that the source code will be made available to other handset manufacturers. The browser is compliant with WAP 1.2, WML Script and supports push technology which allows WAP service operators to send individualised messages to users. It is based on the software Nokia uses in the Nokia 7100 Series and the Nokia 9110i Communicator platforms. Ericsson is developing its own version of WAP browser, but other handset manufacturers such as Siemens and Motorola are both using phone.com's WAP browser.
