Olympics braces itself for six billion virtual visits

IBM is expecting six billion hits on its olympics.com website during the two weeks of the games.

NEWS The Sydney 2000 games mark the third time IBM has hosted an official Olympics website. This year's includes news, chatrooms, information sorted by sport and country, and an online shop for Olympic merchandise. The company has 1,500 IBM staff working on the site, along with 4,300 IT volunteers worldwide.
The site includes real-time desktop scoreboards that will provide live access to Olympic results and webcam snapshots of Sydney.
