AGF set to get online arm operational

AGF, the French subsidiary of German banking group Allianz, has set a long-awaited launch date for its online banking service.

NEWS The bank claimed it would invest E100m (£60m) in the service, Banque AGF, over the next three years. Antoine Jeancourt-Galignani, president of AGF, said the bank aims to attract 350,000 clients by 2003, half the amount originally estimated when online plans were announced in March. Banque AGF will offer current accounts, saving schemes and online bill payment facilities. AGF has signed agreements with Sofinco for consumer credit, with Entenial for accessing online mortgages and with BNP-Paribas' online brokerage firm Cortal. Galignani said the company has been running a test site since June, has signed up 1000 accounts to date and that the full version of the site will go live on 16 October 2000.
