Siemens buys Trango to build on CRM

Siemens is rumoured to have bought Canadian CRM firm Trango in a deal worth almost $20m, adding to the functionality of its HiPath ProCenter Suite.

NEWS Ontario-based Trango currently employs 45 developers, and the first press statement from Munich credits them with having "already implemented a series of voice messaging and contact centre solutions for leading companies in the telecommunications sector". Siemens appears to be continuing its spate of acquisitions. It took a stake in US-based Quintus some months ago and appears to be aiming for companies which develop CRM program packages for deliverance over the internet. Research house Datamonitor predicts that turnover for this market area will treble to $8.5bn US dollars by the year 2003. Quintus is currently under investigation for allegedly misstating its financial results.
