Oracle joins B2B standards body

Oracle has joined the Universal Description Discovery and Integration standard, the online B2B database founded by Ariba, Microsoft and IBM.

NEWS Oracle had previously refused to join the alliance, claiming both the process and the technology were too proprietary. The company had objected that founding members held the right to veto votes of other member companies. The UDDI group has now given up that power. The database allows companies to register technical details of products and services, facilitating easier integration between businesses. Oracle's approval brings the number of members to 130.
