NEWS Applications software sales increased 66 per cent to $279m, while database software sales grew 19 per cent to $775m. The company's net income for this quarter is up 62 per cent on last year to $623m. Total software licence revenue was up 25 per cent to $1.1bn, while total service revenue increased 9 per cent to $1.5bn for the quarter. Larry Ellison, the company's CEO, said in a press statement: "Our applications business is strong and getting stronger. Oracle's new ebusiness suite puts every aspect of a business on the internet. All the applications in our suite are designed and engineered to work together, so customers buying the entire suite don't need to do any systems integration."
