Daimler Chrysler claims victory with Covisint B2B platform

Car giant Daimler Chrysler (DM) claims it purchased goods worth over E220m (£140m) through its procurement platform Covisint last year, saving more than 17 per cent on conventional purchasing.

NEWS DM said it carried out 33 bid invitations and more than 150 auctions on the B2B marketplace it operates with General Motors and Ford. DM board member Gary Valade said this represented figure purchases of more than 500 parts and services. Daimler Chrysler is banking on even higher cost savings through web-based transactions between the production plants, suppliers, and dealers in 2001. By Andreas Beuthner
