German industry gets portal boost

The German utility and transport sectors are set to begin trading on a tailored e-marketplace that will provide streamlined procurement of materials and services.

NEWS SAP predicts the hub, created in co-operation with Hamburg-based firm on.valco, will process around DM1.1bn (£350m) of trade in its first year. Companies using the site will be able to manage all aspects of their operations, from goods delivery and utilities supply and billing to waste disposal. The e-marketplace is scheduled to open on 1 April.
