SAP America chief jumps ship

Chris Larsen, president of SAP America, has quit, joining a management exodus from the company's US arm.

NEWS According to reports he is defecting to rival Siebel Systems. In the last 14 months he has, with some success, battled against the loss of management at SAP America. A number of the managers, department heads and management personnel have moved over to their direct competitor, Siebel, due to the poor situation concerning orders. Only support from the German manager, Wolfgang Kemna was able to slow down the migration, after the CEO Kevin McKay also left the sinking ship. By its own admission, SAP still has difficulties gaining a foothold in the US market which is dominated by Oracle. Above all, the poor sales figures for ERP in the US market last year has had a heavy impact on the US subsidiary. by Kathrin Schmitt
