NEWS The company said the service will allow subscribers of partner firm France Telecom to view and share pictures stored on PhotoNet via their mobile phone. In addition, SMS notification will be used to inform consumers when prints are ready to be collected at retail outlets, with immediate previews available on a mobile handset. Gareth Jones, vice president and regional general business manager of Kodak's digital and applied imaging division, said: "As a picture content provider, leading and anticipating trends and future usage of images, we see the emergence of GPRS and wireless devices as the platform to bring colour images to PhotoNet Online." Jones added that Kodak intends making the online service "the killer application for Europe's operator community." Last Monday Kodak announced a partnership with LifeFX, who develop realistic, digital human faces. The technology, expected to be ready in early 2002, will allow people receiving emails to convert them into talking photographs via a 'virtual' stand in.
