NEWS The European ASP market was worth only $3m in 2000, but is expected to be worth $390m by 2005, largely fuelled by SMEs, according to a report from Datamonitor. SMEs are often unwilling or unable to make the large capital investments necessary to fund a full-scale implementation of software applications such as CRM. But the availability of CRM applications on a monthly fee or per-click basis over an ASP framework makes it a much more feasible strategy for small businesses. Germany, Scandinavia and the UK are currently the largest ASP CRM markets, but Germany is expected to be the most important market by 2005, fuelled largely by the widespread availability of broadband internet access.
