Oracle predicts gloomy future for Larry

Oracle's downward turn looks set to continue as the company turned in its third quarter results and announced its sales predictions for Q4 2001.

NEWS Although this quarter's income was up by 16 per cent to $583m, predictions are that software licence growth will be flat in the fourth quarter compared with the same period last year. The company was disappointed with it sales of software applications, which were expected to do better than its database business. Initial expectations a 75 per cent sales growth were lowered to 50 per cent at the beginning of the month - in reality growth only reached 25 per cent.
