Fat lady clears her throat for the end of BT's Concert

BT is reported to be on the verge of selling its stake in Concert to its partner in the venture, AT&T.

NEWS An attempted sale failed last year but reports on Businessweek.com suggest this deal may have been revived. The report also claims the deal could also see the sale of BT Ignite. Although no decision has been formally announced BT is expected to go public with the news, possibly within the next month, but is remaining tightlipped at the moment. When approached by silicon.com the company would only say that BT has been talking to AT&T about how to make Concert work better, but said this is part of an ongoing and regular process. The company declined to make further comment. BT has been under pressure to divest itself of some assets to reduce its burden of debt, which escalated, with its aggressive purchasing of 3G licences. This pressure may ensure that a sale is made, even if the terms are not ideal.
