B2B to defy misplaced pessimism

Online B2B trade will reach over £1.9tr across Europe by 2004, according to the latest survey from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

NEWS Despite current pessimism about prospects for the future of e-marketplaces, the BCG finds that B2B trading racked up £123bn worth of transactions last year. However, despite the seemingly rosy outlook, the BCG does find a number of problems standing in the way of B2B adoption - notably a failure to redesign business processes and cultural inertia within firms. The BCG says firms should be looking to find new customers through the web, not just make cost savings.
